At Jay First Baptist Church, music ministry stretches from preschool to senior adult. Everyone in your family can find a place in one of our choirs.
High school students, college students, and adults of all ages are welcome to sing in our adult choir. This is the main Sunday morning worship choir which leads in singing hymns and choruses and in presenting special music. They present two musicals a year (Christmas and Easter), as well as special music for patriotic services, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, revivals, church homecomings, Thanksgiving, and Lord’s Supper observance. The adult choir practices after the Sunday evening worship service.
We encourage 7th graders through college age to participate in our youth choir, the main choir for our Sunday evening service. These youth learn to actively participate in worship as they use their musical talent for God’s glory. Youth choir meets each Sunday at 4:30 p.m. for rehearsal.
Children’s choir is for students grades 2-6. Choir members learn important Bible truths as they practice and perform Scripture-based skits. The children’s choir presents special programs at Christmas, Easter, and on other occasions. This group rehearses Wednesday evenings at 5:30p.m. with a snack supper following.
Preschool choir is for children age 3 through first grade. The preschool choir uses music to teach Bible stories, Scripture verses, and to celebrate God’s goodness. This choir sings during regular worship services on various occasions throughout the year. These children always bless us with their energy and joy. They rehearse Wednesday evening at 5:30 p.m. with a snack supper following.
Jolly Jay Choir
The senior adult choir, an extension of our Jolly Jay ministry, is open to all adults age 50 and up. This group sings during monthly visits to area nursing homes and occasionally during Sunday worship services.
